The Electric Brain in Paris

We are proud to announce an exhibition by 1+1=3 in Paris. The exhibition will take place at Biblioteque Charcot at ICM, Hôpital Pitié Salpêtrière, July 2-5.

The Electric Brain
- An aesthetic itinerary of the Charcot Library, from pioneering discoveries of organic electric activity to Brainwave Music

For the occasion of the CuttingEEG conference, the art-science collective 1+1=3 has created a special exhibition at the Charcot Library in which you can explore the aesthetic qualities of early scientific research in electrical (brain) activity.

Books and illustrations are drawn from the personal library of the pioneer of neurology, Jean-Martin Charcot (1825-1893) with the invaluable help of Guillaume Delaunay and Chantal Lantin. Documentation, records and recordings will also provide a chronology of the history of brainwave music, leading up to the recent performances of 1+1=3 in which they use the EEGsynth to convert EEG to music in real-time. Be sure to enjoy this opportunity between talks and posters to engage your brain in a different way and explore the unique history of Hopital Pitié-Salpêtrière. The library staff will also be present to allow you to explore the mind of the giants on whose shoulders we stand.

2-5 July at Bibliothèque Charcot
